Description: Manages individual optical signal lane parameters including wavelength, power, and status on NBS WDM equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NBS-SIGLANE-MIB?
NBS-SIGLANE-MIB is an NBS optical-transport vendor MIB that manages "signaling lane" objects for multi-lane optical ports such as QSFP, CXP, and CFP transceivers used in high-speed optical/WDM transport equipment. It exposes port-to-lane mapping tables along with per-lane optical parameters including frequency/wavelength and, per its short description, optical power and status. It is a hardware-status monitoring MIB at the optics level: tracking per-lane wavelength/frequency assignment and (per vendor description) received/transmitted optical power and lane status, which lets operators detect a failing transceiver lane, wavelength drift, or a lane reporting a fault/loss-of-signal condition. As a WDM/multi-lane optics MIB it likely depends on standard interface indexing (ifIndex) to tie ports back to IF-MIB interfaces. It is typically deployed on NBS WDM/optical transport network elements using multi-lane optical modules (QSFP/CXP/CFP) in metro/long-haul optical networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the NBS-SIGLANE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NBS-SIGLANE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- NBS WDM/optical transport network element with multi-lane optics (QSFP/CXP/CFP)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the nbsSigLanePortTable (indexed by nbsSigLanePortIfIndex) to see how many lanes (nbsSigLanePortLanes) are provisioned on a multi-lane optical port, then drill into the nbsSigLaneLaneTable/nbsSigLaneLaneEntry for each nbsSigLaneLaneIndex to check nbsSigLaneLaneFrequency and nbsSigLaneLaneWavelengthX. A lane reporting an unexpected frequency/wavelength value or a lane missing from the table would indicate a mis-tuned or failed optical lane within the transceiver.
What Can Be Monitored
- optical lane frequency/wavelength
- lanes provisioned per port
- per-lane optical power
- per-lane signal status
