Description: Manages MRV NBS enhanced user-space module configuration and operational state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is NBS-EUSM-MIB?
NBS-EUSM-MIB is an MRV Communications proprietary SNMP module (under the nbs enterprise branch used by MRV's NBS product line) managing the Enhanced User-Space Module (EUSM), a per-slot feature set on MRV chassis-based switching equipment. It exposes per-slot objects covering access-control tagging behavior, VLAN ID list assignment, link aggregation administrative/operational state, and storm-control thresholds for broadcast, multicast, and unicast traffic. As a configuration-and-operational-state MIB, it is used to monitor whether individual chassis slots support the EUSM feature, whether link aggregation is administratively configured versus actually operational on that slot, and whether storm-control burst-size thresholds are properly guarding against traffic floods. It is MRV/NBS proprietary and does not appear to build on any shared IETF MIB, relying instead on MRV's own chassis slot-indexing conventions. It is typically deployed on MRV NBS modular Ethernet switch/media-converter chassis in metro or enterprise access network deployments, where administrators can get the NBS-EUSM-MIB download to load into their SNMP management tools.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NBS-EUSM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- MRV Communications NBS modular Ethernet switches/media-converter chassis
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll nbsEusmSlotTable keyed by slot to check nbsEusmSlotSupportsEusm and confirm nbsEusmSlotLinkAggrAdmin against nbsEusmSlotLinkAggrOper to catch a slot where link aggregation was configured but never came operationally up. Reviewing nbsEusmSlotStormControlBroadcast, nbsEusmSlotStormControlMulticast, and nbsEusmSlotStormControlUnicast alongside nbsEusmSlotStormBurstSize would reveal whether storm-control thresholds are set appropriately or whether a slot is passing an abnormal burst of traffic. Access-control objects like nbsEusmSlotAccControlActionTag/Untag and nbsEusmSlotAccControlVidList would show which VLANs are tagged versus untagged for that slot's access control policy.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-slot EUSM feature support
- link aggregation admin vs. operational state
- storm-control thresholds (broadcast/multicast/unicast)
- storm-control burst size
- access-control VLAN tagging configuration

Time-stamp of the test start will be sent by the SNMP agent to the line-card to keep track of the time instance of the test. |
| STR nbsEusmCableTestResult | 1.3.6.1.4.1.629.202.3.2.1.2 | DisplayString | read-only | This string will give out the result of the cable test done with a time stamp that gives the indication as to when the CableTest was initiated. This also gives the result for all the 4 pairs of wire. Possible results status includes invalid, good, mismatch short and open. When the status is mismatch, short or open, there will be length indicating more information about the location of the fault. From the LNXNM point of view it is easy to deal with scalars than tables - so this is made into DisplayString. Since the MVs use it read-only and display anyway, it is probably simpler to deal with scalar display string rather than table. An example TestResult may look like the following pair-1 good,pair-2 invalid,pair-3 open at 25 meters,pair-4 good. |
