Description: Manages HTTP server parameters and access settings on Broadcom cable gateway devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BRCM-HTTP-MGMT-MIB?
BRCM-HTTP-MGMT-MIB is a Broadcom enterprise MIB used on cable gateway devices (cable modems and modem/router combos built on Broadcom cable chipsets) to manage the embedded HTTP management server. It exposes configuration objects for administrator and user web-login credentials, access-control settings, and which IP stack interfaces the HTTP server listens on. This is primarily a software/configuration-status MIB: it lets an operator confirm whether remote HTTP management is enabled, which interfaces are reachable, and whether advanced access controls are active, rather than exposing hardware sensors. It has no strong stated dependency on other MIBs beyond the vendor's own Broadcom private enterprise tree. It is typically deployed by cable ISPs for centralized provisioning and lockdown of the web-management interface on subscriber cable gateways, and technicians can download the BRCM-HTTP-MGMT-MIB file to load into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BRCM-HTTP-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Broadcom-based cable modem
- cable gateway/residential gateway
Monitoring Examples
An operator could poll httpAdvancedAccessEnabled and httpIpStackInterfaces to confirm that the embedded web server is restricted to the expected management interface rather than exposed on the WAN, and check httpAdminId/httpUserId to verify configured administrator and user accounts match provisioning policy. httpPasswordOfTheDaySeed indicates use of a rotating one-time-password scheme, whose presence/change can be monitored as a proxy for whether time-based web-login security is active. httpAdminPassword and httpUserPassword being set (or default) is a common misconfiguration this MIB helps surface.
What Can Be Monitored
- HTTP admin account ID
- HTTP user account ID
- advanced access-control enabled state
- IP stack interfaces serving HTTP
- password-of-the-day seed status
