Description: Monitors Mylex RAID controller disk array configuration, health, and event status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MYLEXRAID-MIB?

MYLEXRAID-MIB is a Mylex proprietary MIB, built on the DMTF standard component framework (dmtfStd/dmtfComponents), for monitoring Mylex RAID storage controllers used in servers. It exposes controller-level identification and capability data — a2ControllerNumber, a2FirmwareRevision, configured vs. actual channel counts, maximum logical drives, and I/O transfer/command limits — as well as operational state (a2OperationalState). This MIB is explicitly aimed at monitoring the hardware/firmware health of the RAID controller itself, most notably a2OperationalState (online/degraded/failed) and a2FirmwareRevision (confirming the firmware version in service), critical for detecting a failed or misconfigured storage controller before it causes disk-array data loss. It is built on the DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force) common information model conventions, indicating a standards-influenced structure beneath the vendor-specific objects. It is deployed on servers equipped with Mylex RAID controller cards for disk array management. Engineers can download the MYLEXRAID-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MYLEXRAID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Mylex RAID controller
  • server with Mylex disk array card

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls a2OperationalState under tControllerInformation/eControllerInformation to confirm the RAID controller (identified by a2ControllerNumber) is in a healthy operating state, cross-checking a2ConfiguredChannels against a2ActualChannels to detect a channel that failed to initialize; a mismatch there, or an a2OperationalState indicating degraded/failed, signals a RAID controller hardware problem requiring attention before it affects the attached disk array.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID controller operational state
  • firmware revision
  • configured vs. actual channel count
  • maximum logical drives supported
  • I/O request/command limits
