Category: IP Routing

Description: Manages ZTE MR6 series router IPv6 interface and protocol configuration objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MR6-MIB?

MR6-MIB is a ZTE MIB for the ZXR10 router platform that manages IPv6 multicast routing (MR6) instance configuration, covering per-VRF multicast routing parameters such as route limits, TOS marking, non-stop forwarding timers, multipath hashing, and route damping. It exposes configuration and status data for each routing instance's IPv6 multicast behavior, including damping thresholds used to suppress route flapping and access scope controls. This MIB is used to monitor the software/configuration status of IPv6 multicast routing on the router, letting an operator confirm zxr10mr6InstanceMroute6Limit and zxr10mr6InstanceMroute6LimitInst are not being exceeded (which would cause new multicast routes to be rejected) and check zxr10mr6InstanceDampingEnable/DampingThreshold to see if route flap damping has been triggered by an unstable multicast source. It is a vendor-specific ZTE MIB built on the general concept of IPv6 multicast routing (analogous to IETF IPMROUTE-STD-MIB) though tied to ZTE's own instance/VRF model. It is typically deployed on ZTE ZXR10 core/edge routers providing IPv6 multicast services in service provider or enterprise networks. Engineers can download the MR6-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MR6-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 series router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll zxr10mr6InstanceTable/zxr10mr6InstanceEntry keyed by zxr10mr6InstanceVrfName to check zxr10mr6InstanceMroute6Limit against current route counts, detecting when a VRF is approaching its configured multicast route ceiling. Checking zxr10mr6InstanceDampingEnable and zxr10mr6InstanceDampingThreshold together with zxr10mr6InstanceSwitchInterval would reveal whether route damping has recently activated due to a flapping IPv6 multicast source, which would explain intermittent multicast delivery to receivers in that VRF.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-VRF IPv6 multicast route limit and current usage
  • TOS value for multicast traffic
  • non-stop-forwarding timer
  • multipath source-group hash setting
  • route damping enable/threshold
  • access scope configuration
