Description: MPLS-TE-CAPABILITY module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MPLS-TE-CAPABILITY?
MPLS-TE-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module, as stated directly in its module description ("Agent capabilities for MPLS-TE-MIB"), meaning it defines no monitorable data objects of its own. Its sole purpose is to declare which specific groups and object variations of the standard MPLS traffic-engineering MIB a particular agent implementation supports, within the MPLS/traffic-engineering technology area on IETF-standard routers. Because AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules are purely conformance/documentation constructs, they carry no hardware or software status data — no uptime, temperature, CPU, memory, or fault objects — and thus have no direct monitoring role. It is entirely dependent on, and meaningless without, the referenced MPLS-TE-MIB whose objects it merely qualifies for a given agent's support level. It would appear in an agent's MIB module list purely for NMS compliance-checking purposes, not for runtime polling, on MPLS-TE-capable routers. Engineers can download the MPLS-TE-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MPLS-TE-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based conformance module, not tied to a specific manufacturer — applies to MPLS-TE-capable routers
Monitoring Examples
This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module with no runtime data objects — it exists only to declare which MPLS-TE-MIB groups and object variations a given agent implements, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; actual traffic-engineering tunnel data would be polled from MPLS-TE-MIB itself.
