Description: Defines IETF draft SNMP objects for managing MPLS label-controlled ATM interfaces and cross-connect parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MPLS-LC-ATM-MIB-DRAFT-01?
MPLS-LC-ATM-MIB-DRAFT-01 is a vendor-neutral IETF draft standards MIB, based on RFC 3035, for managing MPLS Label-Controlled ATM interfaces, within the WAN/MPLS core-network management area. It exposes configuration data for LC-ATM interfaces, including per-interface control VPI/VCI ranges, unlabeled-traffic VPI/VCI values, VC-merge capability, and row-status control for provisioning entries, plus the standard conformance apparatus (groups/compliances) and a notifications subtree. Its monitoring relevance is mainly configuration verification for MPLS-over-ATM label switching rather than hardware health: an administrator confirms the control and data VPI/VCI ranges assigned to an interface match the intended MPLS label space, and checks whether VC merging is enabled to understand cell-interleaving behavior. It explicitly depends on base MPLS standard MIBs (e.g., MPLS-LSR-MIB) since it extends generic MPLS constructs to ATM's VPI/VCI addressing, and on standard ATM-MIB conventions for the underlying ATM interface. Typical deployment is service-provider MPLS core/edge routers using ATM transport, now largely legacy given MPLS's shift to Ethernet/IP-based label switching. Engineers can download the MPLS-LC-ATM-MIB-DRAFT-01 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MPLS-LC-ATM-MIB-DRAFT-01. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer
- MPLS-over-ATM edge/core routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator provisioning an LC-ATM interface would set and later poll mplsLcAtmCtrlVpi/mplsLcAtmCtrlVci in mplsLcAtmIfConfTable/mplsLcAtmIfConfEntry to confirm the control VC used for MPLS label distribution matches configuration, and mplsLcAtmUnlabTrafVpi/mplsLcAtmUnlabTrafVci to verify where non-labeled traffic is carried. Checking mplsLcAtmVcMerge shows whether VC merging is enabled, which affects how multiple label-switched paths share underlying ATM VCs. mplsLcAtmIfConfRowStatus reveals whether a given interface entry is active, not-in-service, or still being created, useful for spotting a stalled provisioning operation; mplsLcAtmNotifications/mplsLcAtmConformance/mplsLcAtmCompliances/mplsLcAtmGroups are conformance/notification-registration constructs rather than pollable runtime data.
What Can Be Monitored
- control VPI/VCI values per LC-ATM interface
- unlabeled-traffic VPI/VCI values
- VC-merge enable state
- interface row/provisioning status
