Description: Manages MITEL WAN backup link failover configuration and switchover state.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MITEL-WANBACKUP-MIB?
MITEL-WANBACKUP-MIB is a Mitel Networks proprietary MIB governing WAN backup link failover on Mitel IP routers, part of the same Mitel proprietary IP networking subtree as the router/trap MIBs. It exposes configuration and status objects for backup WAN link configuration and switchover/failover state, letting administrators see whether a router has failed over from a primary WAN link to a backup link. This is fundamentally a hardware/link status monitoring MIB — it tracks the operational state of network interfaces and the failover mechanism itself, revealing link-down conditions and automatic recovery actions on the router. It depends on the broader Mitel proprietary IP networking MIB tree (mitelPropIpNetworking/mitelIpNetRouter/mitelRouterIpGroup) shared with other Mitel router MIBs. It is deployed on Mitel IP routers used in branch-office or campus deployments where WAN backup links provide redundancy for voice/data connectivity. Engineers can download the MITEL-WANBACKUP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MITEL-WANBACKUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Mitel IP routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll objects under mitelRouterIpGroup related to WAN backup configuration on a mitelIpNetRouter device to determine the current failover state — for example, whether the router has switched over from its primary WAN interface to a backup link. A sudden switchover event detected via this MIB would indicate the primary WAN circuit has gone down, prompting investigation of the upstream carrier link.
What Can Be Monitored
- WAN backup link configuration
- primary/backup link failover state
- WAN interface operational status
