Description: Manages PPPoE client session configuration, service-name tags, and connection status on D-Link network devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PPPOE-MGMT-MIB?
PPPOE-MGMT-MIB is a D-Link enterprise MIB (swPPPoEMIB, under dlink-common-mgmt 79) for switches that act as PPPoE Intermediate Agents rather than PPPoE clients. Its scope is circuit-ID insertion — the PPPoE analogue of DHCP option 82 — controlled globally by swPPPoECirIDInsertState and per-port by swPPPoECirIDInsertPortTable, whose entries select whether the inserted circuit ID uses the switch's IP address, its MAC address, or an administrator-defined UDF string (swPPPoECirIDInsertPortCirID, swPPPoECirIDInsertPortUDFString). This is narrower than the hint description of client-side PPPoE session/service-name management: the MIB does not model PPPoE session state, service-name tags, or connection status at all, only the intermediate-agent's circuit-ID tagging behavior on each port. It is deployed on D-Link switches that sit between PPPoE clients and a BRAS/access concentrator to inject subscriber-identifying circuit-ID information, and administrators can find it via a PPPOE-MGMT-MIB download.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PPPOE-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- D-Link switches (PPPoE Intermediate Agent feature)
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks swPPPoECirIDInsertPortState and swPPPoECirIDInsertPortCirID on a given port to confirm circuit-ID insertion is enabled and using switch-mac mode; if a BRAS operator reports PPPoE sessions arriving without expected circuit-ID tags, checking this table's per-port state quickly reveals whether insertion was left disabled on that port.
What Can Be Monitored
- global PPPoE circuit-ID insertion enable/disable state
- per-port circuit-ID insertion state
- per-port circuit-ID source (switch IP/MAC/UDF string)
- per-port user-defined circuit-ID string
