Description: Defines managed objects for Multiprotocol Interconnect traffic over X.25, including tables for X.25 interfaces, peer addressing, and encapsulation types.

IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring MIOX25-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.

What Is MIOX25-MIB?

MIOX25-MIB is a MIB for Multiprotocol Interconnect over X.25 (an RFC 1461-era legacy WAN technology), covering routers that encapsulate protocols like IP over X.25 packet-switched networks, within the legacy WAN interconnect area. It exposes configuration and operational data for X.25 "PLE" (protocol/logical encapsulation) interfaces and peer address mappings, including circuit limits, connection-refusal counts, and address-translation failure statistics between X.121 (X.25) addresses and network addresses. This MIB is primarily useful for monitoring the software/protocol health of the X.25 interconnect layer: a rising mioxPleRefusedConnections or mioxPleQbitFailures indicates congestion or protocol-level faults, while the address-lookup-failure counters and their associated last-failed-address/timestamp objects reveal address-resolution problems between the network layer and X.25 addressing. It builds on the base X.25 MIB (RFC 1382) for underlying interface/link-layer state and standard SMI table conventions. Typical deployment is legacy WAN routers providing IP-over-X.25 interconnect service in older telecom/packet-switched network environments. Engineers can download the MIOX25-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MIOX25-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • legacy WAN routers with X.25 interconnect interfaces

Monitoring Examples

Polling mioxPleTable/mioxPleEntry, specifically mioxPleMaxCircuits versus the active circuit count, tells an administrator whether a PLE interface is near its configured circuit limit; a rising mioxPleRefusedConnections counter alongside that confirms new connection attempts are being rejected due to exhaustion. mioxPleEnAddrToX121LkupFlrs and mioxPleX121ToEnAddrLkupFlrs, together with the paired mioxPleLastFailedEnAddr/mioxPleLastFailedX121Address and their lookup-failure-time objects, let an admin identify exactly which address failed translation and when, useful for diagnosing a misconfigured peer mapping. A climbing mioxPleQbitFailures count alongside mioxPleQbitFailureRemoteAddress points to a specific remote peer having Q-bit signaling problems on the X.25 circuit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active vs. maximum X.25 circuits per interface
  • refused connection count
  • address-lookup failure counts (both directions)
  • last failed address and failure timestamp
  • Q-bit failure count and remote address
