Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: Allied Telesis

Description: Provides extended interface management objects supplementing IF-MIB for Allied Telesis physical and logical interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is AT-INTERFACES-MIB?

AT-INTERFACES-MIB provides extended interface management objects that supplement the standard IF-MIB for Allied Telesis physical and logical interfaces, particularly modular chassis hardware. It exposes a hardware inventory of chassis boards and slots, including board identity, revision, serial number, and total slot/position counts. Its monitoring emphasis is on hardware status: board serial number and revision let an operator inventory installed line cards, while the slot table reveals when a previously present board has been removed or has failed. It is explicitly designed to supplement the standard IETF IF-MIB (RFC 2863) rather than replace it. It is used on Allied Telesis modular chassis switches and routers with multiple line-card slots. Engineers can download the AT-INTERFACES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in AT-INTERFACES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Allied Telesis modular chassis switches/routers

Monitoring Examples

arBoardTable/arBoardEntry, indexed by arBoardIndex, exposes arBoardId, arBoardName, arBoardRevision, arBoardSerialNumber, and arBoardTotalSlots, alongside arSlotTable/arSlotEntry for slot-to-board mapping. An administrator would poll arBoardSerialNumber and arBoardRevision to build a hardware inventory of installed line cards across a chassis, and monitor arSlotTable for a slot whose board entry has disappeared, which indicates a card was removed or has failed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • board identity and revision
  • board serial number
  • total slots/positions per board
  • slot-to-board mapping
  • interface-to-board assignment
