Category: Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: Linksys

Description: Root enterprise MIB for Linksys networking products, defining the OID registration tree for Linksys/Cisco consumer and SMB network equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LINKSYS-MIB?

LINKSYS-MIB is the root enterprise MIB module that registers the top-level OID subtree for Linksys (a Cisco-owned consumer and small-business networking brand) products. It does not itself expose operational data; it primarily defines the 'linksys' enterprise object identifier and a deviceId object used to identify which specific Linksys device model is being managed. As a registration/root MIB it has essentially no monitoring role for hardware or software status by itself, since actual status objects live in product-specific Linksys MIBs built underneath this OID tree. It depends on the standard IANA enterprise-numbers registration under the SNMPv2-SMI enterprises subtree, since 'linksys' is registered as a child of that node. It is used as an anchor point wherever a Linksys consumer router, switch, or access point implements SNMP. Engineers can download the LINKSYS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LINKSYS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • vendor-neutral registration point; applies to Linksys consumer/SMB routers, switches, and access points

Monitoring Examples

This module contributes little beyond the deviceId object, which a management station could poll to identify the specific Linksys product model responding on a given IP address before selecting the appropriate product-specific MIB for detailed polling. There are no runtime performance or fault objects defined here; it functions purely as an OID namespace root.

What Can Be Monitored

  • device model/type identifier
