Description: Linksys model identification MIB providing device type, hardware version, and firmware information for Linksys network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LINKSYS-MODEL-MIB?

LINKSYS-MODEL-MIB is a Linksys enterprise-specific MIB (registered under enterprises.3955) that, despite its name, covers more than model identification: alongside the Common group's hardware model ID, software version, and firmware version (commonModelId, commonSoftwareVer, commonFirmwareVer), it defines a Common Management group for warm-start/factory-reset control, an SNMP community table (mgtCommunityTable), and a full broadband-gateway configuration group covering LAN/WAN addressing (netAddressLAN/WAN, subnetMaskLAN/WAN, physicalAddrLAN/WAN), DHCP server and client settings, PPPoE/RAS login credentials, connection idle behavior, and a router-vs-gateway working-mode switch (workingMode). This lets an operator confirm both what device/firmware is deployed and how its WAN uplink and LAN DHCP service are actually configured, which is central to diagnosing broadband connectivity issues on small-office/home-office gateways. It depends only on core SNMPv1/SNMPv2-TC types and is deployed on Linksys broadband routers and gateways as a compact, self-contained enterprise MIB. Administrators can download the LINKSYS-MODEL-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LINKSYS-MODEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Linksys broadband routers and gateways

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls commonFirmwareVer to confirm which firmware a fleet of Linksys gateways is running, then checks dhcpStatusWAN and loginStatus to verify the WAN uplink mode (static, DHCP, PPPoE, or RAS) matches the ISP configuration; a gateway reporting loginStatus of pppoe(1) with a missing or empty loginUserName would explain a WAN connection failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hardware model / software / firmware version
  • WAN uplink mode and login credentials (PPPoE/RAS)
  • LAN/WAN IP and subnet configuration
  • DHCP server status and address range
  • SNMP community table entries
  • router vs. gateway working mode
