Description: Juniper Networks conformance definitions for ICMP ping test management on Juniper E-series routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-Ping-CONF?

Juniper-Ping-CONF is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module belonging to the Juniper Networks E-series router family, specifically describing the implementation profile of the SNMP agent's Ping component. Rather than exposing monitorable data itself, it documents which objects, groups, and compliance statements from the associated Ping MIB (typically the IETF DISMAN-PING-MIB or a Juniper-specific ping MIB) are actually supported by the E-series agent. As a conformance module it has no direct role in reporting hardware or software status such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load; its purpose is purely to declare feature-level support for remote ping test configuration and results. It is inherently dependent on the base Ping MIB it provides capabilities for, since it only makes sense in conjunction with that module's object definitions. In deployment, it is consulted by NMS tools or MIB compilers to determine what ping diagnostic functionality is safely usable against a given Juniper E-series device, rather than being polled at runtime. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the Juniper-Ping-CONF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-Ping-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series routers

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no runtime data objects of its own -- its sample_objects list is empty because AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules only enumerate supported groups and variations rather than expose pollable OIDs. An administrator would not poll this MIB directly; instead a management system would reference it to confirm that ping test creation and result retrieval (defined in the underlying Ping MIB) are supported before attempting to configure remote ping probes on a Juniper E-series router.
