Description: Provides managed objects for HDLC WAN interface configuration and statistics on Juniper Networks E-series routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-HDLC-MIB?

Juniper-HDLC-MIB is a Juniper Networks proprietary MIB configuring HDLC framing on top of underlying physical interfaces such as Packet over SONET (POS) and High-Speed Serial Interface (HSSI). Its HDLC interface table, keyed by index, records row status, the lower-layer interface it's stacked on, MTU/MRU, CRC size, and data polarity, alongside a next-available-index object for provisioning. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm an HDLC interface's MTU/MRU and CRC configuration match the far-end device's expectations. It is deployed on Juniper routers with HDLC-encapsulated POS or HSSI interfaces. Engineers can download the Juniper-HDLC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-HDLC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks routers (HDLC over POS/HSSI interfaces)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks juniHdlcIfMtu and juniHdlcIfCrcSize for an HDLC interface reporting frame errors, confirming whether an MTU or CRC-size mismatch with the far-end device explains the problem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • HDLC interface MTU/MRU and CRC configuration
