Description: Defines managed objects for host configuration, addressing, and routing policy on Juniper Networks E-series broadband routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-HOST-MIB?

Juniper-HOST-MIB is a Juniper enterprise MIB that manages host-level configuration on Juniper E-series broadband routers, including static host table entries mapping names to IP addresses, associated protocol, and credentials. It exposes a simple provisioning table rather than deep hardware telemetry, letting operators create, view, and delete host bindings via SNMP row-creation semantics. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration-state verification: confirming juniHostRowStatus reflects the intended active/inactive state of each host entry and that juniHostIpAddress/juniHostProtocol values match expected provisioning, which is a software/configuration status check rather than a hardware health check. It is a self-contained enterprise MIB not layered directly on a specific IETF standard beyond general SNMPv2 conventions. It is used in Juniper E-series broadband edge router deployments for managing static host records used by other services (e.g., remote login or file transfer targets), and administrators can download the Juniper-HOST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-HOST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series broadband router

Monitoring Examples

An administrator queries juniHostTable/juniHostEntry to review juniHostName, juniHostIpAddress, and juniHostProtocol for each configured host binding, verifying that juniHostRowStatus shows the entry as active rather than notInService or destroyed. If a dependent service (such as a file transfer or authentication lookup) starts failing, checking juniHostUserName and juniHostIpAddress here can reveal a stale or misconfigured host record. This table is typically small and static, so its main use is as a lookup reference rather than a high-churn monitoring target.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured host name/IP bindings
  • host entry row status
  • host access protocol configuration
