Category: Protocol: BGP, Routing Protocols, Vendor: Juniper

Description: Conformance and compliance statements covering management of the BGP routing protocol on Juniper Networks E-series routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-BGP-CONF?

Juniper-BGP-CONF is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module describing which parts of the BGP4-MIB (and related BGP management objects) are supported by the SNMP agent on Juniper Networks E-series routers, rather than a data-carrying MIB itself. It does not expose its own runtime tables of BGP peer or route data; instead it documents implementation-specific variations, restrictions, and support levels for objects defined elsewhere. Consequently it has no direct role in hardware/software status monitoring; its purpose is purely to inform management applications about SNMP agent capability/compliance for BGP on this platform. It is explicitly dependent on the standard BGP4-MIB and describes the Juniper E-series SNMP agent implementation of it. It is used during network management system integration/testing on Juniper E-series routers to determine which BGP MIB objects are safe to poll or set on that platform. Engineers can download the Juniper-BGP-CONF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-BGP-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks E-series router

Monitoring Examples

This module has no sample objects because it is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module, not a data MIB, so it defines no runtime tables to poll. It is only consulted by management tools to determine which BGP4-MIB objects (e.g. peer state tables) the Juniper E-series agent actually implements, not to retrieve monitoring data directly.
