Description: Defines the OID registration subtree for Juniper Networks E2-series router platform MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-E2-Registry?

Juniper-E2-Registry is a Juniper Networks registration MIB that defines the OID subtree and enumerated AutonomousType values (juniE2EntPhysicalType) used to identify specific hardware module and chassis component types on second-generation Juniper E-series routers. It is not itself a data-bearing MIB with counters or state; it functions as a lookup registry assigning unique OIDs to each physical card, module, or chassis type as new hardware becomes available. Its practical use in monitoring is indirect: when a management station polls the standard ENTITY-MIB's entPhysicalVendorType, these registry OIDs let it translate that value into the specific Juniper hardware model (line card, PIC, chassis) installed. It depends directly on the IETF ENTITY-MIB (RFC 2737), whose entPhysicalVendorType object references these registered OIDs. It is deployed alongside the ENTITY-MIB wherever Juniper second-generation E-series hardware inventory needs precise identification, drawing on the Juniper-E2-Registry OID tree to map vendor type values to actual hardware models.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-E2-Registry. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series routers (second generation)

Monitoring Examples

This module is a registry/type-definition rather than one exposing pollable runtime data; its only object, juniE2EntPhysicalType, is an OID assignment referenced by ENTITY-MIB's entPhysicalVendorType rather than something an admin polls directly for status.
