What Is Juniper-UNI-SMI?

Juniper-UNI-SMI is the top-level Structure of Management Information module for the Juniper Networks (formerly Unisphere) enterprise OID tree covering the UNI/E-series product line. Like other top-level SMI modules, it defines only registration subtrees (products, MIBs, and experimental branches) rather than any operational data objects. Consulting the Juniper-UNI-SMI OID list is typically the first step in locating where a given E-series functional MIB's objects are registered within the broader juniMibs subtree. It has no direct monitoring role for hardware or software status itself - it provides the namespace under which the functional E-series data and voice MIBs register their objects. It underlies and is imported by the full family of Juniper E-series/Unisphere functional MIBs. It is deployed as a foundational module on Juniper E-series edge routers alongside the specific MIBs that use its OID assignments.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-UNI-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series edge routers

Monitoring Examples

No monitorable objects are defined; juniProducts, juniMibs, juniExperiment, and the legacy usVoiceMibs/usVoiceExperiment/usVoiceAdmin branches are pure OID registration points used by other Juniper E-series MIB modules to register their own data objects.
