Description: Juniper Networks MIB for Real-time Performance Monitoring (RPM) probe configuration and results on Juniper routing platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is JUNIPER-RPM-MIB?

JUNIPER-RPM-MIB is a Juniper Networks enterprise MIB implementing the Real-time Performance Monitoring (RPM) feature, used to configure active probes and report their results. It exposes objects for probe configuration (owner, test name, target, probe type/interval) and result statistics such as round-trip time, jitter, and probe success/failure counts. Its monitoring focus is network performance and reachability, effectively synthetic transaction monitoring, rather than device hardware health, though it reflects the health of the paths and services being probed. It is a Juniper-proprietary feature MIB, independent of IETF standards, specific to JUNOS RPM. Typical deployment is Juniper routers/switches used to continuously measure latency, jitter, and packet loss to critical destinations for SLA verification. Engineers can download the JUNIPER-RPM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-RPM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks routers/switches running JUNOS with RPM enabled

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were captured for this MIB; based on its description, an admin would typically poll configured RPM probe results for round-trip time and jitter against a critical destination, with a rising failure count or latency spike indicating a degrading network path that needs investigation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RPM probe configuration
  • round-trip time/latency
  • jitter
  • probe success/failure counts
  • SLA test results
