Description: Eltex Connectivity Fault Management MIB for managing IEEE 802.1ag CFM domains, MEPs, and OAM operations on Eltex devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-CFM-MIB?

ELTEX-CFM-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Eltex Enterprise implementing IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) objects - maintenance domains (MD), maintenance associations (MA), and their configuration - for Eltex switching equipment. It exposes tables for CFM maintenance domain and maintenance association definitions, including names, indices, and row-creation status, alongside notification and conformance objects. Its monitoring value is centered on Ethernet OAM/software configuration status: confirming that eltexCfmMdTable/eltexCfmMaTable entries are correctly provisioned (via eltexCfmMdRowStatus/eltexCfmMaRowStatus) is what lets fault-detection continuity checks and MEP-based fault monitoring work correctly across a metro Ethernet or carrier Ethernet network. It is explicitly built on the IEEE 802.1ag CFM standard, so it depends conceptually on that standard's data model even though it is implemented as a vendor-specific MIB. It is deployed on Eltex switches used in carrier Ethernet or metro Ethernet access networks, where ELTEX-CFM-MIB SNMP monitoring supports the end-to-end connectivity fault detection required there.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-CFM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex Enterprise switches (carrier/metro Ethernet)

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks eltexCfmMdTable/eltexCfmMdEntry (keyed by eltexCfmMdIndex/eltexCfmMdName) and eltexCfmMaTable/eltexCfmMaEntry (keyed by eltexCfmMaIndex) to confirm the expected maintenance domains and associations exist with eltexCfmMdRowStatus/eltexCfmMaRowStatus showing active rather than notInService, which would indicate a broken CFM provisioning step. eltexCfmMaDirection is checked to confirm MEPs are configured for the correct up/down monitoring direction relative to the customer-facing port, which matters for correctly detecting a fiber cut or misconfigured segment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • maintenance domain configuration and status
  • maintenance association configuration and status
  • MEP monitoring direction
  • CFM row/provisioning status
