Category: Protocol: 802.1X, Vendor: Juniper

Description: Juniper Networks MIB extending IEEE 802.1X Port Access Entity (PAE) management objects for Juniper-specific authentication features.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is JUNIPER-PAE-EXTENSION-MIB?

JUNIPER-PAE-EXTENSION-MIB is Juniper Networks' enterprise extension to the standard IEEE 802.1X PAE MIB, adding static MAC authentication (MAC-RADIUS/MAC bypass) support. Its objects cover the current authentication-profile name, a per-port auth-configuration table (MAC-auth status, guest VLAN, retry count, supplicant mode, MAC-RADIUS enable/restrict, re-authenticate, quiet period, max requests, clients-rejected count, server/supplicant timeout, transmit period), a static-MAC-authentication-bypass table (MAC address, VLAN name), and a per-interface bypass table. As a configuration MIB it lets an administrator confirm which MAC addresses are statically authorized to bypass full 802.1X authentication and their assigned VLAN. It is deployed on Juniper Networks EX-series switches. Engineers can download the JUNIPER-PAE-EXTENSION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-PAE-EXTENSION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks EX-series switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks jnxStaticMacAuthBypassTable to confirm a printer's MAC address is correctly configured for static bypass authentication on a Juniper EX switch.
