What Is JUNIPER-MOBILE-GATEWAYS?
JUNIPER-MOBILE-GATEWAYS is a Juniper Networks enterprise MIB providing OID registration and basic identity structure for Juniper's mobile-edge gateway product line, used in mobile operator core networks. The JUNIPER-MOBILE-GATEWAYS MIB exposes a gateway index table that names and types each mobile-edge gateway instance running on the platform, establishing the identity framework that more detailed gateway-specific MIBs build on. Its monitoring value at this level is primarily inventory/identification of software gateway instances (which gateway types are configured and active) rather than deep performance counters, serving as a foundation for correlating other Juniper mobile-gateway MIBs' data to the correct gateway instance. It is expected to be used alongside other Juniper mobile-gateway MIBs that report per-gateway session, throughput, or fault data. It is deployed on Juniper platforms (such as MX-series routers) configured as mobile packet-core gateways (e.g. GGSN/PGW functions) in service-provider mobile networks.

Monitoring Examples
An administrator walks jnxMbgGwIndexTable (jnxMbgGwIndexEntry) to enumerate configured gateway instances by jnxMbgGwIndex, reading jnxMbgGwName and jnxMbgGwType to confirm which mobile-gateway function (e.g. GGSN vs PGW) each instance represents. This index table is then cross-referenced by other Juniper mobile-gateway MIBs reporting per-gateway session counts or throughput, so a missing or renamed entry here would indicate a gateway instance was removed or reconfigured. It essentially forms the identity backbone other mobile-gateway monitoring relies on.
