Description: Provides managed objects for Network Address Translation (NAT) sessions, pools, and rule statistics on Juniper Networks SRX security devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is JUNIPER-JS-NAT-MIB?

JUNIPER-JS-NAT-MIB is Juniper's enterprise MIB for monitoring NAT (Network Address Translation) sessions, pools, and rule statistics on SRX security devices. It exposes NAT session state/counts, address-pool utilization, and per-rule translation statistics. It is used to monitor the software-level status of the NAT subsystem—active translation counts, how much of a NAT pool's address space is in use, and how often specific NAT rules are hit—a resource/capacity monitoring use case rather than physical hardware. It is a Juniper enterprise-specific MIB (jnx tree) tied to JUNOS SRX NAT configuration rather than a standard IETF NAT MIB. It is typically deployed on Juniper SRX firewalls/security gateways performing NAT at enterprise or service-provider network edges. Engineers can download the JUNIPER-JS-NAT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in JUNIPER-JS-NAT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks SRX security devices

Monitoring Examples

No object names were included in the sample data for this MIB, but consistent with its stated purpose an admin would expect to poll NAT session-count and pool-utilization tables to detect when a NAT pool is nearing exhaustion (risking new connections failing to get an address), and per-rule hit-count tables to confirm a specific NAT rule is actively translating traffic as intended.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active NAT session counts
  • NAT pool address utilization
  • NAT rule hit/match counts
