What Is I2000-V1?

I2000-V1 (published as IMAP_NORTHBOUND_MIB) is a Huawei vendor-private MIB that, despite its name, is not a general device-management module but specifically the SNMP Northbound Interface for Huawei's iMAP transmission-network element management system, registered under Huawei's enterprises.2011 branch. It defines heartbeat objects (iMAPNorthboundHeartbeatSystemLabel, iMAPNorthboundHeartbeatPeriod, iMAPNorthboundHeartbeatTimeStamp) that let an upstream NMS confirm the iMAP-to-NMS link is alive, and an extensive fault-alarm object set (iMAPNorthboundAlarmCSN, iMAPNorthboundAlarmCategory, iMAPNorthboundAlarmLevel, iMAPNorthboundAlarmType, iMAPNorthboundAlarmRestore, iMAPNorthboundAlarmConfirm, plus fifteen reserved extended-product-item fields) that carry real-time alarm details from managed network elements up to the NMS. Leaf nodes such as iMAPNorthboundAlarmAcknowledge, iMAPNorthboundAlarmUnAcknowledge, and iMAPNorthboundAlarmClear let an NMS operator act on alarms by serial number, while dedicated TRAP-TYPEs push alarm and heartbeat events. This module is useful for confirming that fault reporting between Huawei transmission network elements and the NMS is functioning and current, and it depends on the underlying iMAP fault-management subsystem generating the alarms in the first place; it is deployed alongside Huawei iMAP-managed transmission network elements, and the I2000-V1 MIB reference documents each of these northbound objects in detail.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in I2000-V1. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An NMS operator monitors iMAPNorthboundHeartbeatNotificationType traps arriving every configured heartbeat interval to confirm the iMAP-to-NMS link is up, and correlates incoming fault-alarm traps against iMAPNorthboundAlarmLevel and iMAPNorthboundAlarmRestore; a missed heartbeat combined with a burst of unacknowledged critical alarms would indicate a failing network element or a broken northbound connection.
