Description: HH3C MIB for resource monitoring tracking CPU, memory, and system resource utilization on H3C devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-RES-MON-MIB?
HH3C-RES-MON-MIB is an H3C-proprietary SNMP module dedicated to resource monitoring on H3C network devices, tracking CPU, memory, and other internal system resource utilization per chassis, slot, and CPU. It exposes both configuration objects (threshold settings, resend/output enable flags) and informational tables reporting current resource usage against configured minor and severe thresholds. This MIB is directly and centrally about monitoring hardware/software status: hh3cResMonChassisIndex, hh3cResMonSlotIndex, and hh3cResMonCpuIndex pinpoint the exact CPU on a given slot/chassis, hh3cResMonResourceName identifies the resource (e.g., CPU usage, memory usage), and hh3cResMonMinorThreshold/hh3cResMonSevereThreshold drive alerting when utilization crosses warning or critical levels, with hh3cResMonNotification providing traps for threshold breaches. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no explicit dependency on other standard resource MIBs. It is deployed across H3C routers and switches in production networks where NMS platforms poll or trap on CPU/memory thresholds to catch overload conditions before they cause packet loss or device instability. Engineers can download the HH3C-RES-MON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-RES-MON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C routers
- H3C switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll hh3cResMonConfigTable/hh3cResMonConfigEntry (indexed by hh3cResMonChassisIndex, hh3cResMonSlotIndex, hh3cResMonCpuIndex) to see hh3cResMonResourceName paired with hh3cResMonMinorThreshold and hh3cResMonSevereThreshold, then cross-reference hh3cResMonInfoTable to read the current utilization value for that CPU/slot. A sustained reading above the severe threshold, combined with an hh3cResMonNotification trap, would indicate a CPU overload condition on a specific line card that needs investigation. hh3cResMonOutputEnable and hh3cResMonMinorResendEnable control whether repeated minor-threshold alerts are suppressed or resent, which matters for alert-fatigue tuning in the NMS.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-slot/per-CPU utilization
- CPU resource name/type
- minor threshold breaches
- severe threshold breaches
- resource threshold notifications
