Description: Huawei WLAN MIB for managing wireless security configurations including WPA/WPA2, 802.1X authentication, and encryption profiles.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-WLAN-SECURITY-MIB?
HUAWEI-WLAN-SECURITY-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for wireless LAN security, managing configuration of WPA/WPA2 security modes, 802.1X authentication settings, and encryption profiles on Huawei WLAN access points and controllers. It exposes configuration objects describing which security scheme and encryption profile are applied to a given wireless SSID or radio, rather than raw traffic statistics. Its monitoring value is in verifying that intended wireless security policy is actually in force, and, where authentication-state objects exist, detecting failed 802.1X authentication attempts that could indicate misconfigured clients or credential/certificate problems. It relies on standard WPA/WPA2 and 802.1X protocol concepts and is used alongside other Huawei WLAN MIBs covering AP/controller status and radio configuration. Deployment context is Huawei enterprise or campus wireless networks (APs and WLAN controllers) requiring secure client authentication and encryption. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HUAWEI-WLAN-SECURITY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-WLAN-SECURITY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei wireless access point
- Huawei WLAN controller
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check the configured WPA/WPA2 security mode and 802.1X authentication settings for a given SSID/profile to confirm they match intended policy, and would monitor authentication-related objects for a rise in failed 802.1X attempts, which would indicate client misconfiguration or a certificate/credential issue affecting wireless access.
What Can Be Monitored
- WPA/WPA2 security mode
- 802.1X authentication configuration
- encryption profile settings
- authentication failure indications
