Description: HUAWEI-VDSL2-PRIV-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-VDSL2-PRIV-MIB?

HUAWEI-VDSL2-PRIV-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for managing VDSL2 (and compatible ADSL) copper-line functionality, including line testing operations such as SELT (Single-Ended Line Test), which characterizes a DSL line's condition without needing equipment at the far end. It exposes configuration objects for controlling and selecting test modes (e.g., starting a VDSL2 or ADSL-compatible SELT test or stopping one) rather than steady-state performance counters. Its monitoring value is diagnostic: it lets an operator remotely trigger and interpret line-test results to assess physical copper-line quality and pinpoint faults such as excessive attenuation or cable damage without a truck roll. It is a Huawei-private extension layered on top of standard VDSL2/ADSL line concepts (related to the IETF VDSL2-LINE-MIB family). Deployment context is Huawei DSLAMs or broadband access nodes delivering VDSL2 service, used by field/NOC engineers for remote line diagnostics. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-VDSL2-PRIV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-VDSL2-PRIV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSLAM
  • Huawei VDSL2/ADSL access device

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would set the SELT operation-type object to vdsl2start to remotely initiate a Single-Ended Line Test on a subscriber's VDSL line, then read back the resulting line-condition/test-result objects to diagnose whether a reported service problem is caused by cable degradation rather than CPE or DSLAM hardware.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SELT test operation status
  • VDSL2/ADSL test mode selection
  • line test results
