Description: Huawei SmartLink MIB for managing primary/backup uplink switching with sub-second failover on access switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-SMARTLINK-MIB?

HUAWEI-SMARTLINK-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for the SmartLink feature, which provides sub-second failover between a primary and backup uplink on access switches to eliminate the convergence delay of spanning tree in simple dual-uplink topologies. Because no sample objects were available, its exact object set cannot be enumerated here, but by design such MIBs expose configuration of the primary/backup port roles and read/settable link-switching parameters as noted in the module description. Its monitoring relevance is fault/status-oriented: it would let an administrator determine which uplink is currently active and whether a failover event has occurred, which is a direct indicator of upstream link health. It is a Huawei-specific extension not derived from an IETF standard, and functions alongside standard IF-MIB interface objects for the physical ports involved. It is typically deployed on Huawei enterprise access/aggregation switches used in redundant dual-homed network designs. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-SMARTLINK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-SMARTLINK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei enterprise access switch

Monitoring Examples

Given the empty sample_objects list for this MIB, no specific object or table names can be grounded here; a realistic scenario would involve polling the SmartLink group's active-uplink status object to detect an unexpected failover from primary to backup port, which would be corroborated with ifOperStatus from IF-MIB on the affected ports.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active/backup uplink status
  • SmartLink failover events
  • primary and backup port configuration
