Description: Manages Server Load Balancing Group (SLBG) virtual IP addresses and member real-server pools on HP/Comware.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-SLBG-MIB?

HPN-ICF-SLBG-MIB is an H3C/HP Networking (Comware) vendor MIB for managing Server Load Balancing Groups (referred to in the source as service loopback groups), which bundle ports to distribute or loop back traffic across multiple physical links for a given service type. It exposes a group table recording each group's service type and row status, and a port table showing which group(s) a given port is attached to versus which group is actually selected/active for that port. For hardware/software status monitoring, the attached-versus-selected group fields on the port table are the key operational indicator, letting an operator confirm that a port is actively using its intended load-balancing group rather than having fallen back to a different or no group, which would signal a link or group-member failure. It is a self-contained vendor MIB describing a Comware-specific link/service grouping feature rather than an extension of a standard IETF MIB. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware switches or service gateways that distribute traffic for a specific service type across multiple physical ports. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-SLBG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-SLBG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware switch or service gateway

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hpnicfSlbgGroupTable (via hpnicfSlbgGroupNumber and hpnicfSlbgGroupSrvType) to confirm which service type each configured group serves and check hpnicfSlbgGroupRowStatus to verify the group is active. The hpnicfSlbgPortTable, indexed by hpnicfSlbgPortIndex, would be inspected by comparing hpnicfSlbgPortAttachedGroupNumber against hpnicfSlbgPortSelectedGroupNumber; a mismatch would indicate the port has fallen back from its intended group to another (or none), signaling that a preferred load-balancing path has failed and traffic is now using a fallback group.

What Can Be Monitored

  • group service type
  • group row status
  • port attached group number
  • port selected (active) group number
