Description: Huawei port blocking MIB for managing port access restriction policies to limit unknown unicast and multicast flooding.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-PORTBLOCK-MIB?
HUAWEI-PORTBLOCK-MIB is a Huawei switch MIB implementing the port block feature, which restricts flooding of unknown unicast and multicast traffic out of specified switch ports to control broadcast/flood storms and limit information leakage. It exposes configuration objects that enable or disable blocking of unknown unicast/multicast flooding on a per-port basis. For monitoring, it is used to confirm the software/configuration state of this traffic-control feature per port, verifying that block settings match the intended security/traffic-isolation policy, rather than exposing hardware sensors or performance counters. It is a Huawei-proprietary feature MIB without a direct IETF standard equivalent, complementing standard bridge/storm-control mechanisms. It is deployed on Huawei LAN switches in environments where limiting unnecessary flooded traffic between ports is a security or performance requirement, and network engineers can download the HUAWEI-PORTBLOCK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-PORTBLOCK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei LAN switches
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided, but a typical use would be polling the per-port block-enable objects to confirm unknown-unicast/multicast flooding is disabled on ports facing untrusted segments, catching any port where the block setting was inadvertently reverted.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port unknown unicast block state
- per-port unknown multicast block state
