Description: Huawei universal power MIB for monitoring AC/DC power supply input, load distribution, and fan cooling in modular chassis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-UNIVERSAL-POWER-MIB?

HUAWEI-UNIVERSAL-POWER-MIB is a Huawei vendor-private MIB defined under the hwMd5500Mib subtree, built specifically to monitor the universal power subsystem of Huawei's MD5500 access platform's environment-monitoring unit (EMU). It models three tables indexed by hwEnvEmuIndex: hwUniversalPowerInfoTable, which exposes hwUnivPowerName and hwUnivPowerState (normal/fault) alongside hwUnivProtocolType and RowStatus lifecycle control; hwUnivPowerAnalogTable, which reports live analog readings via hwUnivAnalogCurrent for each named power channel; and hwUnivPowerAlarmTable, which surfaces detailed fault conditions through hwUnivAlarmState values such as voltageLack, voltageOver, commFailure, and switchOff. This is a hardware-sensor MIB rather than a configuration MIB, so polling it gives direct visibility into whether AC/DC input feeds, load distribution, and associated power alarms are within normal operating parameters on the chassis. It depends on the HUAWEI-ENVIRONMENT-MIB for its hwEnvEmuIndex table indexing and on HUAWEI-MIB for the enterprise OID tree it hangs from. It is deployed on Huawei MD5500 access nodes and similar chassis where administrators load the HUAWEI-UNIVERSAL-POWER-MIB MIB into their monitoring tools to track power-supply health.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-UNIVERSAL-POWER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei MD5500 access/environment-monitoring platform

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls hwUnivPowerAlarmTable (indexed by hwEnvEmuIndex and hwUnivAlarmIndex) to check hwUnivAlarmState for a given power unit; a transition from normal(1) to voltageLack(4) or commFailure(13), combined with hwUnivPowerState in hwUniversalPowerInfoTable showing fault(2), would indicate a failing power feed requiring field replacement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • universal power state (normal/fault)
  • power alarm states (voltage lack/over, comm failure)
  • analog current readings per power unit
  • power info row status
  • environment monitoring unit (EMU) index
