Description: Provides miscellaneous system and interface management objects for HP/Comware Layer 2 switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-LswMix-MIB?

HPN-ICF-LswMix-MIB is a proprietary MIB from HP's Comware-based (ICF, Integrated Comware Framework) Layer 2 switch line, later carried forward under H3C, collecting a miscellaneous set of chassis- and system-level management objects that don't fit into other dedicated modules. It exposes data about MPU (Main Processing Unit) redundancy switchover history, slot/card inventory, and main control board status, alongside cross-bar switching-fabric health. It is explicitly useful for hardware status monitoring: administrators can track the timestamp of the last active/standby MPU switchover, how many switchovers have occurred, and whether the main control board and cross-bar fabric are in a healthy state. It builds on standard chassis/entity MIB concepts (like slot indexing) adapted to HP/H3C's private tree. It is typically deployed on modular, chassis-based HP/H3C Comware enterprise switches where redundant MPUs and multiple line cards need to be tracked for stability and failover events through HPN-ICF-LswMix-MIB SNMP monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-LswMix-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware-based modular Layer 2 switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hpnicfLswMainCardBoardStatus and hpnicfLswCrossBarStatus to confirm the main control board and switch fabric are operating normally, and check hpnicfLswXSlotTable/hpnicfLswXSlotEntry for per-slot card presence and state. Polling hpnicfLswMpuSwitchsNum alongside hpnicfLswLastSwitchDate and hpnicfLswLastSwitchTime lets an operator detect an unexpected MPU failover (a rising switch count with a recent timestamp), typically indicating a hardware fault or software crash on the previously active MPU. A non-normal value in hpnicfLswMainCardBoardStatus would flag an impending hardware failure needing physical inspection.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MPU switchover history/count
  • main control board status
  • cross-bar fabric status
  • slot/card inventory and state
