Category: Technology: QoS, Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Manages interface-level QoS policies including queuing, shaping, and policing on HP/Comware devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-IFQOS2-MIB?

HPN-ICF-IFQOS2-MIB is an HPE/H3C Comware ICF private MIB providing interface-level Quality of Service (QoS) management, covering queuing, traffic shaping, and policing applied to individual interfaces on the device. No populated object list is available in this snapshot, but a MIB of this kind typically models per-interface/per-queue tables for configured bandwidth, shaping parameters, and queue statistics such as packets dropped or bytes forwarded per traffic class. Its monitoring value centers on traffic-management software behavior rather than physical hardware: showing whether QoS policies are actively enforcing intended bandwidth guarantees and whether congestion is causing drops in specific classes. Persistent drops in a high-priority queue would strongly signal oversubscription or a misconfigured policy on that interface. It extends the standard IF-MIB framework with vendor-specific QoS detail, and HPN-ICF-IFQOS2-MIB SNMP monitoring is deployed on HPE/H3C Comware switches and routers to confirm QoS policies are being enforced as configured.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-IFQOS2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HPE/H3C Comware switches
  • HPE/H3C Comware routers

Monitoring Examples

No concrete sample object names are available for this module in this snapshot, so a specific polling scenario cannot be described with confidence. Typically an administrator would poll per-interface queue tables for drop counts and current queue depth to detect congestion in a given traffic class, where rising drops under a configured shaping rate would indicate that interface is oversubscribed relative to its QoS policy.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-interface QoS queue statistics
  • traffic shaping/policing drop counts

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hpnicfIfQoSPassPackets OID:

Select an HPE/H3C Comware switch or router (per-interface QoS/shaping/policing) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hpnicfIfQoSPassPackets into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of forwarded packets. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
