Description: HH3C MIB for storage snapshot management configuring and monitoring point-in-time snapshots on H3C storage systems.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-STORAGE-SNAP-MIB?

HH3C-STORAGE-SNAP-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com / New H3C) proprietary MIB for managing point-in-time snapshot functionality on H3C storage arrays, covering configuration of snapshot logical-volume space and the reserve/snap areas used to hold snapshot data. It exposes configuration objects for snapshot area sizing, auto-expansion behavior, thresholds, and increment sizes, along with status and notification objects for each snapshot logical volume. Its monitoring value is centered on storage capacity/health status rather than CPU or chassis sensors - specifically watching whether snapshot reserve space is nearing capacity, whether auto-expand is functioning, and the operational status of each snap area, which is critical to preventing snapshot failures due to exhausted space. It depends on H3C's broader storage device MIB framework for the underlying logical-volume identifiers referenced by hh3cSnapLvIndex. It is deployed on H3C enterprise storage arrays/SANs where administrators use snapshots for backup or point-in-time recovery. Engineers can download the HH3C-STORAGE-SNAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-STORAGE-SNAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C enterprise storage array/SAN

Monitoring Examples

A storage administrator can poll hh3cSnapConfigTable / hh3cSnapConfigEntry to check hh3cSnapAreaThreshold against the current usage implied by hh3cSnapAreaMaxSize and hh3cSnapAreaIncSize, catching a snapshot area approaching capacity before hh3cSnapAreaFullDeleteTM triggers automatic deletion of old snapshots. The hh3cSnapAreaAutoExpand flag reveals whether the area is configured to grow automatically, and hh3cSnapAreaStatus (combined with hh3cSnapAreaNotify) shows the current health/notification state of each snapshot area on a given hh3cSnapLvIndex logical volume. hh3cAddtionalSpaceMaxSize gives a global ceiling on additional space that can be allocated for snapshots across the system.

What Can Be Monitored

  • snapshot area capacity usage
  • auto-expand configuration
  • capacity threshold
  • snapshot area status
  • full-delete timing
  • additional space allocation limit
