Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for General Port Policy Control (GPPC) managing traffic policy application per port on HP ProCurve switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HP-ICF-GPPC-MIB?

HP-ICF-GPPC-MIB is an HP proprietary MIB for General Purpose Packet Control (GPPC), an HP ProCurve feature for applying traffic-handling policy on a per-port basis, such as directing or filtering packets according to configured criteria. It exposes configuration data describing which policy is applied to a given port rather than live traffic counters. Its monitoring relevance is confirming the software/configuration status of per-port packet-control policy — verifying the correct policy is bound to each port — which matters for troubleshooting unexpected traffic filtering or forwarding behavior, though it doesn't expose hardware health metrics directly. It builds on general per-port policy concepts and complements the standard IF-MIB for port indexing. It was deployed on HP ProCurve switches where administrators needed fine-grained, per-port traffic control beyond standard ACLs, and the HP-ICF-GPPC-MIB download is available to administrators who want to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-GPPC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP ProCurve switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific object names cannot be cited. In general, an administrator would expect to poll per-port policy-assignment objects to confirm which GPPC policy is bound to a given switch port, and to detect a port whose policy assignment doesn't match the intended configuration. Without a captured schema, this remains an inferred rather than a verified monitoring workflow.
