Category: Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE
Description: Monitors active user and protocol sessions including counts and per-session statistics on HP/Comware devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-SESSION-MIB?
HPN-ICF-SESSION-MIB is an H3C/HPE Networking (ICF) proprietary MIB reporting session-table creation-rate statistics, useful for detecting a session-flood attack. Its statistics table, keyed by chassis/slot/CPU ID, records current session count and session-creation rate. As a performance/security MIB it lets an administrator watch session-creation rate to catch an abnormal spike indicating a connection-flood attack on an H3C/HPE ICF device. It is deployed on H3C/HPE Networking (ICF-based) routers/firewalls. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-SESSION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-SESSION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C/HPE Networking (ICF-based) routers/firewalls
Monitoring Examples
An administrator monitors hpnicfSessionStatCreateRate to catch an abnormal session-creation spike indicating a flood attack on an H3C/HPE ICF device.
