What Is HP-ICF-CHASSIS?

HP-ICF-CHASSIS is an HP proprietary MIB describing chassis-level hardware for HP ProCurve and Aruba modular switches, covering physical chassis structure, slot/module mapping, and environmental sensors. Its module description explicitly notes that most of this MIB has been superseded by the standard ENTITY-MIB, with the hpicfSensorTable remaining the enduring, still-valid part reporting sensor readings for temperature, fans, and power. This makes it squarely a hardware environmental-monitoring MIB, used to detect over-temperature conditions, fan failures, or power-supply problems per chassis slot. It complements the standard ENTITY-MIB for physical inventory and entity indexing. It is deployed on HP ProCurve/Aruba modular chassis switches that need per-slot environmental/sensor monitoring. Engineers can download the HP-ICF-CHASSIS file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-CHASSIS. Monitoring Examples

hpicfSensorTable is called out directly in the module's own description as the part of this MIB that remains valid even though the rest was superseded by ENTITY-MIB; an administrator polls its per-sensor entries for temperature, fan, and power-supply readings, alerting when a sensor's status transitions from normal to a warning or failure state, which would indicate an overheating slot or a failed fan in the chassis.
