Description: HP SNMP MIB for accounting management on HP networking devices, tracking session and usage records for AAA accounting.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HP-ACCT-MIB?
HP-ACCT-MIB is an HP proprietary MIB from the HP Integrated Communication Facility (ICF) product line, providing objects for managing accounting services — tracking usage/session records typically associated with dial-up, AAA, or similar access services on HP networking devices. It exposes configuration and status data related to accounting record generation rather than interface or environmental telemetry. Its monitoring relevance is software/service status — confirming the accounting service itself is enabled and functioning so that usage records are reliably captured for billing, auditing, or compliance purposes, rather than hardware health metrics like temperature or fan speed. It depends conceptually on general AAA/accounting frameworks (similar to RADIUS accounting) though implemented as an HP-private schema. It was typically deployed on older HP ICF-based access/communication devices where administrators needed visibility into whether usage accounting was actively being recorded. Engineers can download the HP-ACCT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ACCT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific object names cannot be cited. In general, an administrator would expect to poll accounting-service status objects to confirm the accounting feature is enabled and actively generating usage records, and check for any accounting-record generation failures. Without a captured schema, this remains an inferred rather than a verified monitoring workflow.
