What Is HM2-PLATFORM-MRP-MIB?

The HM2-PLATFORM-MRP-MIB MIB is a Hirschmann (Belden) HiOS Platform2 private module managing Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP, IEC 62439-2) ring configuration and state on Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches. It exposes per-port MRP configuration within the 802.1Q bridge framework - ring port assignment and join/leave/leave-all timer settings that govern ring failover behavior. For hardware/software status monitoring it lets an admin confirm a port is correctly configured as an MRP ring port and verify timer settings that determine how quickly the ring detects and recovers from a break, which is central to network resiliency rather than raw sensor data. It builds on the standard IEEE 802.1Q bridge MIB framework for its port indexing (dot1q references). It is typically deployed on Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches used in ring-redundant factory/industrial automation networks.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-PLATFORM-MRP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MRP ring port role/assignment
  • MRP join timer
  • MRP leave timer
  • MRP leave-all timer
  • MRP extension (MXRP) status

Supported Devices

  • Hirschmann RSP Series (HiOS) — managed industrial Ethernet switch with MRP ring redundancy for automation networks
  • Hirschmann BXS BOBCAT Series (HiOS) — compact fanless industrial Ethernet switch with MRP support

Monitoring Examples

hm2AgentDot1qPortMrpTable/hm2AgentDot1qPortMrpEntry expose per-port MRP settings keyed by hm2AgentDot1qMrpPort, including hm2AgentDot1qPortMrpJoinTime, hm2AgentDot1qPortMrpLeaveTime, and hm2AgentDot1qPortMrpLeaveAllTime. An admin would compare these timer values across all switches in an MRP ring to confirm consistent failover-speed configuration, since mismatched leave/join timers can cause slow or unstable ring recovery after a break. hm2AgentDot1qMrpMxrp indicates whether the Multiple MRP Registration Protocol extension is enabled on the port.
