What Is HIQ-ADMIN-MIB?

HIQ-ADMIN-MIB is a Hirschmann-branded administration MIB for the hiQ8000 device, originally the Unisphere Networks/Juniper SRX3000-series session border controller/media gateway, covering administrative configuration for services such as SIP, MGCP, and Unified Call Establishment (UCE). It exposes configuration and licensing objects - per-service signaling settings and feature licensing state - rather than raw hardware sensor data. Its monitoring role is mainly software/service status: hiqFeatLic reveals licensed feature/capacity status and hiqTraps deliver notifications about administrative conditions, letting an operator confirm which telephony services are active and licensed on the box and catch licensing or state-change events. Given its Unisphere/hiQ8000 lineage it is likely used alongside other Unisphere/Juniper SRX-series enterprise MIBs for full device management. After a HIQ-ADMIN-MIB download, it is typically loaded on hiQ8000/SRX3000-class session border controller or media gateway platforms in VoIP/telecom carrier networks to manage these administrative objects.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HIQ-ADMIN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SIP service configuration/status
  • MGCP service configuration/status
  • licensed feature/capacity status
  • administrative/service event traps
  • UCE (Unified Call Establishment) service status

Supported Devices

  • Siemens Network Convergence / Unisphere Networks hiQ8000 media gateway (formerly Unisphere SRX3000)

Monitoring Examples

usSrxSip and usSrxMgcp expose administrative status/configuration for the SIP and MGCP signaling services respectively, letting an admin confirm which call-control protocols are enabled. hiqFeatLic reports licensed feature/capacity limits, so a monitoring poll could detect the device approaching a licensed session or port limit. hiqTraps defines notification objects sent for administrative events such as licensing or service-state changes, and usSrxUce covers Unified Call Establishment service configuration.
