What Is SURPASS-RTP-MIB?
SURPASS-RTP-MIB is a Siemens (later Nokia Siemens Networks) proprietary module for the Surpass hiD/hiG family of Resilient Telco Platform (RTP) media gateways, used in carrier VoIP and telecom access networks. It establishes the top-level identity and managed-object hierarchy for RTP-based products, under which session, endpoint, and media-stream management objects are organized. Its intended monitoring role is to track the operational status of media gateway sessions and streams — session establishment/teardown state, endpoint availability, and media stream health — functioning as a software/service-status view into the gateway's call-handling subsystem rather than raw box hardware telemetry. As a vendor-specific carrier platform module it is layered on top of Siemens's broader Surpass product MIB structure and standard SNMP frameworks. It is deployed in telecom/carrier network operations centers managing Surpass hiD/hiG RTP-based media gateway deployments, where a SURPASS-RTP-MIB download is typically obtained directly from Nokia Siemens Networks along with the rest of the vendor's Surpass MIB package.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SURPASS-RTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- RTP session status
- media endpoint availability
- media stream state
Supported Devices
- Siemens Surpass hiD/hiG RTP media gateways
- carrier VoIP media gateway platforms
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were captured for this module in this batch, so specific table or object names cannot be cited here; based on the module description, the intended use is to monitor RTP media gateway session, endpoint, and media stream status on Surpass hiD/hiG platforms rather than any generic hardware counters.
