Description: Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) device management MIB for system-level device configuration and inventory.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HM2-DEVMGMT-MIB?
HM2-DEVMGMT-MIB is a Hirschmann HiOS device management MIB providing system-level device configuration and inventory for Hirschmann industrial networking equipment. It exposes hardware identity objects (product ID, product description, serial number) alongside a rich set of administrative action objects that trigger resets and flushes of various internal tables, including the forwarding database (FDB), ARP cache, IGMP snooping (IGS) state, port statistics, email log statistics, and MRP/MVRP/MSRP registration protocol state. Its monitoring and management value is centered on device identity and administrative/software state: confirming exact product model and serial number for asset tracking, and triggering maintenance actions like clearing stale FDB/ARP/port-statistics entries when troubleshooting. It is a self-contained Hirschmann private MIB, generally used alongside standard IF-MIB, BRIDGE-MIB, and Q-BRIDGE-MIB for the tables it can flush (FDB, MVRP/MSRP registrations). It is deployed in Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switches running the HiOS firmware in industrial automation and rugged networking environments. Engineers can download the HM2-DEVMGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-DEVMGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hirschmann HiOS industrial Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would read hm2DevMgmtProductId, hm2DevMgmtProductDescr, and hm2DevMgmtSerialNumber to confirm exact device identity and firmware compatibility during an asset audit. When troubleshooting stale switching state, they would trigger hm2DevMgmtActionFlushFDB or hm2DevMgmtActionFlushARP to clear out-of-date forwarding/ARP entries, or hm2DevMgmtActionFlushPortStats to reset port counters before a clean performance baseline measurement. Persistent problems with multicast registration could be addressed via hm2DevMgmtActionFlushMMRP/MVRP/MSRP, and hm2DevMgmtActionReset would perform a full device reset if needed.
What Can Be Monitored
- product ID and serial number
- forwarding database (FDB) flush/reset actions
- ARP cache flush actions
- IGMP snooping flush actions
- port statistics flush actions
- MRP/MVRP/MSRP registration flush actions
