Description: HH3C MIB for Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) monitoring providing power status on H3C devices with UPS.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-UPS-MIB?
HH3C-UPS-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB that lets an H3C network device (router/switch) discover and manage information about an attached or network-connected Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) unit, acting as a lightweight proxy/registry rather than a full UPS telemetry MIB. It exposes a configuration table listing each known UPS by index, its type, and its IP address (with address-type qualifier), plus a global enable flag for the UPS-monitoring feature. Its monitoring role centers on power-protection status: an operator polls hh3cUpsConfigTable to confirm which UPS units are registered against the device, their type, and reachability via hh3cUpsIpAddress, which matters for confirming the device has a recognized power-backup source configured — a basic but important piece of hardware-availability assurance, though the module leans toward configuration/discovery data rather than detailed battery/runtime telemetry. It is designed to work alongside a fuller UPS MIB (such as the IETF UPS-MIB, RFC 1628) or the UPS vendor's own MIB for deeper battery/runtime status, with this module providing the H3C-side association/reference. It is deployed on H3C routers and switches in installations where UPS backup power status needs to be visible through the network device's own management interface. Engineers can download the HH3C-UPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-UPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C router
- H3C switch (with attached/networked UPS)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll hh3cUpsConfigTable/hh3cUpsConfigEntry, checking hh3cUpsType and hh3cUpsIpAddress per hh3cUpsIndex to confirm which UPS unit(s) are registered as backing a given H3C device and that hh3cUpsConfigEnable is set to enable monitoring. If the registered hh3cUpsIpAddress becomes unreachable, that would indicate a lost communication path to the UPS providing power protection for the device, worth escalating before a power event occurs.
What Can Be Monitored
- registered UPS unit index/type/IP address
- UPS monitoring enable state
