Description: Manages Generic Online Diagnostics (GOLD) test scheduling and results on H3C modular router/switch platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-GOLD-MIB?
HH3C-GOLD-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB supporting Generic Online Diagnostics (GOLD), a hardware self-test/diagnostic framework used on H3C's modular chassis-based routers and switches to continuously verify internal interconnects between line cards, fabric modules, and CPUs. It exposes objects describing inter-process-communication (LIPC) link endpoints identified by chassis, slot, and CPU IDs on both the source and destination sides of an internal link, plus a trap mechanism for reporting diagnostic events. This MIB is directly about hardware health monitoring: it lets an operator verify that internal chassis fabric/control links between specific slots and CPUs are healthy, and receive traps (hh3cGoldTrap) when GOLD detects an internal hardware fault such as a failed backplane link or malfunctioning module. It does not depend on external standard MIBs but is specific to H3C's modular chassis diagnostic architecture. It is deployed on H3C modular routers/switches (multi-slot chassis platforms) where internal hardware integrity between supervisor and line-card modules must be continuously verified. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HH3C-GOLD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-GOLD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C modular chassis routers and switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator troubleshooting intermittent performance on a modular chassis would inspect hh3cGoldLipcLinkSourceChassisID, hh3cGoldLipcLinkSourceSlotID, and hh3cGoldLipcLinkSourceCpuID alongside the corresponding destination fields to identify which internal inter-process-communication link GOLD is testing between two line cards or a line card and supervisor. Receipt of an hh3cGoldTrap with a populated hh3cGoldTrapOjbects/hh3cGoldTrapObjectDefinitions payload would indicate a specific internal hardware link failed a diagnostic test, pointing to a potential faulty module or backplane connector in a named slot. This lets NOC staff pinpoint a physical hardware problem inside a chassis before it causes a full card or system failure.
What Can Be Monitored
- internal inter-process-communication link source/destination chassis-slot-CPU mapping
- GOLD diagnostic fault trap events
