Category: MPLS and Traffic Engineering, Protocol: MPLS, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: HH3C MIB for Traffic Engineering (TE) MPLS tunnel configuration and operational status on H3C routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-TE-TUNNEL-MIB?

HH3C-TE-TUNNEL-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou H3C Technologies) vendor MIB that extends the standard MPLS-TC-STD-MIB textual conventions to manage MPLS Traffic Engineering (TE) tunnels on H3C routers, registered under the hh3cCommon enterprise subtree. It models static cross-connect LSPs in hh3cTeTunnelStaticCrlspTable (indexed by inbound label, with name, up/down status, and transit/tail role), co-routed bidirectional tunnel information in hh3cTeTunnelCoTable, and 1:1/1+1 protection-switching group state in hh3cTeTunnelPsTable (work/protect path status, switch mode, revertive timers, and current active path). This data is useful for monitoring whether MPLS TE tunnels and their protection groups are up, whether a protection switchover has occurred, and whether static CR-LSPs remain correctly cross-connected, which is critical for maintaining traffic-engineered paths in service-provider or enterprise MPLS backbones. It depends on the underlying MPLS/LSR MIB framework (mplsXCTable) that these tunnels reference via RowPointer objects, and on H3C routers configured as MPLS Label Switch Routers. Operators managing H3C MPLS infrastructure can download the HH3C-TE-TUNNEL-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-TE-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C MPLS-capable routers (Label Switch Routers)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls hh3cTeTunnelPsWorkPathStatus and hh3cTeTunnelPsProtectPathStatus for a protection-switching group to verify the work path shows noDefect while monitoring hh3cTeTunnelPsSwitchResult; a transition of hh3cTeTunnelPsSwitchResult to protectPath combined with inDefect on the work path would indicate the primary TE tunnel has failed and traffic has switched to its backup.

What Can Be Monitored

  • static CR-LSP status and role (transit/tail)
  • co-routed bidirectional tunnel/reverse LSP mapping
  • protection-switching work/protect path status
  • protection switch mode and revertive timers
  • protection switchover result
  • TE tunnel switchover notifications
