Last Updated: 2013-06-13

Category: MPLS and Traffic Engineering, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Provides H3C extensions to standard MPLS MIBs for vendor-specific label stack and LSP management objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-MPLSEXT-MIB?

HH3C-MPLSEXT-MIB provides H3C's proprietary extensions to the standard MPLS MIB family, adding vendor-specific label-switching capability and LDP (Label Distribution Protocol) status objects for H3C routers. It exposes configuration-oriented data such as LSR ID, MPLS capability flags, interface MTU for label switching, and a parallel LDP-specific table tracking per-interface LDP capability and status, plus row-status objects for provisioning. As a monitoring MIB it is oriented toward software/protocol state: hh3cMplsExtLdpStatus and hh3cMplsExtLdpCapability let an operator confirm whether LDP is enabled and operational on a given interface, which is essential for verifying label-switched path (LSP) establishment. It explicitly depends on and extends the standard IETF MPLS MIBs, layering H3C-specific LDP/label-switching attributes on top of that base model. It is used in service-provider and enterprise MPLS/VPN backbones running H3C routers, where network management stations track LDP session health and MPLS interface readiness alongside the standard MPLS-LSR and MPLS-LDP MIBs. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HH3C-MPLSEXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-MPLSEXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C MPLS-capable routers
  • H3C provider-edge/core routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator would query hh3cMplsExtTable/hh3cMplsExtEntry (keyed by hh3cMplsExtIndex) to check hh3cMplsExtCapability and hh3cMplsExtMtu for each MPLS-enabled interface, confirming the interface is provisioned for label switching with the correct MTU. Separately, hh3cMplsExtLdpTable/hh3cMplsExtLdpEntry (keyed by hh3cMplsExtLdpIndex) exposes hh3cMplsExtLdpCapability and hh3cMplsExtLdpStatus, which would reveal an LDP session that failed to come up on an interface, explaining a broken LSP. The hh3cMplsExtLsrID scalar identifies the router's LSR ID, useful for correlating with topology data during troubleshooting.
