Category: Device Management, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages Multi-Device Contexts (MDC) for hardware resource partitioning on H3C virtualized network platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-MDC-MIB?

HH3C-MDC-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB managing Multitenant Device Context (MDC), a virtualization feature that partitions a single high-end chassis into multiple logically independent virtual devices. It exposes the maximum and current MDC count, a control table to create/name/act-on each MDC and track its status, and a disk-resource table allocating storage per MDC. As a configuration/hardware-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm how many MDCs are provisioned against the chassis maximum and check each MDC's operational status and resource allocation. It is deployed on H3C high-end chassis switches/routers supporting device virtualization. Engineers can download the HH3C-MDC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-MDC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C high-end chassis switches/routers (Multitenant Device Context)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks hh3cMDCCurrentMDCNum against hh3cMDCMaxMDCNum before provisioning another virtual device context, and reviews hh3cMDCStatus for each existing MDC to confirm they're all running normally.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current vs. maximum MDC count
  • per-MDC status and resource allocation
