Description: H3C MIB for monitoring CATV optical transceiver parameters including optical power levels and signal quality.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-CATV-TRANSCEIVER-MIB?

H3C-CATV-TRANSCEIVER-MIB is an H3C-specific MIB for managing and displaying the configuration and operational status of CATV (Community Antenna Television/cable broadband) optical transceiver modules installed in H3C access or aggregation equipment. It exposes optical/environmental hardware telemetry — input optical power, output signal level, and module temperature — along with configurable low/high alarm thresholds for each. This is squarely a hardware-health monitoring MIB: it lets an operator watch transceiver temperature and optical power levels for early signs of laser degradation, dirty/faulty fiber connections, or overheating, and it defines trap notifications (h3cCATVTansTrap) so threshold breaches can be reported proactively rather than only discovered by polling. It has no stated dependency on other MIBs and is self-contained for this specific transceiver hardware class. It is typically deployed on H3C broadband access nodes (e.g. EPON/CATV combo units or hybrid fiber-coax equipment) where optical transceiver reliability directly affects subscriber service quality. Engineers can download the H3C-CATV-TRANSCEIVER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-CATV-TRANSCEIVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C CATV/broadband access transceiver modules
  • H3C EPON/hybrid fiber-coax access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls h3cCATVTransInputPwr and h3cCATVTransOutputLevel against h3cCATVTransInputPwrLowerThr and h3cCATVTransOutputLvlLowerThr to catch a transceiver whose signal has degraded below acceptable levels, and checks h3cCATVTransTemperature against h3cCATVTransTempratureUpperThr to catch overheating. The h3cCATVTransStatus / h3cCATVTransState objects give the module's overall operational state at a glance. A trap from h3cCATVTansTrap combined with a falling h3cCATVTransInputPwr typically points to a degraded or dirty fiber link into that transceiver.

What Can Be Monitored

  • optical input power
  • optical output level
  • transceiver temperature
  • power/level/temperature alarm thresholds
  • transceiver operational status
