Description: H3C MIB for general network management including interface monitoring, SNMP configuration, and device management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-NET-MAN-MIB?
H3C-NET-MAN-MIB is H3C's general network management MIB, providing device identification and management objects intended to support dynamic address assignment environments, per its stated purpose. It exposes device IP addressing (h3cNMIpAddressType/h3cNMIpAddress), a custom build-information string, and serial number identification (h3cNMSerialNum), alongside separate configuration, monitoring, and notification object groups (h3cNMConfigObjects, h3cNMMonitorObjects, h3cNMNotify/h3cNMNotifyObjects). Its monitoring role centers on device identity and change tracking in dynamic-IP networks, confirming which physical device, by serial number and build info, currently holds a given management IP address, plus a defined notification framework for management-relevant events. It appears designed to interoperate with standard SNMP notification (SNMPv2-MIB/NOTIFICATION-TYPE) conventions given its Notify object structure. It is deployed across the H3C router and switch product line, particularly in environments using dynamic address assignment such as DHCP-managed device management IPs, and administrators can download the H3C-NET-MAN-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for device-identity monitoring.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-NET-MAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C router/switch (general network management)
Monitoring Examples
An admin polls h3cNMIpAddress and h3cNMIpAddressType to determine the current management address type/value of a device, then cross-references h3cNMSerialNum and h3cNMCustomBuildInfo to positively identify which physical unit that address currently belongs to, important when devices get new IPs via DHCP. The h3cNMNotify/h3cNMNotifyObjects group defines the notification objects sent when management-relevant events occur, letting a monitoring station subscribe to device-identity or configuration-change traps rather than only polling.
What Can Be Monitored
- management IP address and type
- device serial number
- software/build information
- management notification events
